Congratulations to all our students this year on their excellent acheivments within the department! Andrew Mullins was selected as the best MS Student, Chul Moon and Xinliang Zhang tied for the best beginning PhD student, and Fei Liu was selected as best Senior Student. We are so incredibly proud of all our winners. Congratulations again! 
Congratulations to our four statistics students who won the Outstanding TA Award. Alexei Ionan, Arunava Samaddar, Vineet Vora, and Chuck Wang all go above and beyond the duties of a TA to help and encourage all the students who they come in contact with. Statistics students Xianyan Chen, Xiaodong Jiang, Jerry Shi, and Yang Song were one of the five finalist teams in teh Capital One Contest. The team members, along with advisor, Jaxk Reeves, were invited to Capital One headquarters from April 20-22, 2016. Here, they presented their analysis and were named first place winners in the competition! Congratulations to these students and Dr. Jaxk Reeves for this great achievemnet! 
Dr. Prince Allotey joined the Department of Statistics at the University of Georgia as a Lecturer in August 2025. He earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Connecticut. Before joining UGA, he served as a Senior Instructor in the Department of Statistics at the University of South Carolina and as an Assistant Teaching Professor at the University of Washington. Congratulations Blake Gee! The Department of Statistics is happy to announce Mr. Blake Gee as the recipient of the 2025 James David Lifsey Graduate Fellowship in Statistics and Data Science. Blake is a UGA "Double Dawg", meaning that he will finish his bachelor's and master's degrees in an accelerated five-year program. Bella Salter is a doctoral student with the Department of Statistics at the University of Georgia. Her research interests include mathematical statistics, especially time-series analysis, and applications in emerging fields. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona in May 2025, majoring in both Mathematics and Computer Science and minoring in Statistics. Dr. Abhyuday Mandal has been recognized with the 2025 Outstanding Chapter Service Award for serving as ASA Georgia Treasurer since 2018, spurring chapter growth, launching the Winter Lecture Series, leading Georgia Statistics Day, and strengthening university engagement, as well as long-term sustainability.
