MAGNet Program

An Opportunity to Gain Industry Experience

The UGA Statistics Department and State Farm Insurance Company have had a cooperative program (MAGNet) since 2016. Admitted graduate students who are interested in careers in the financial and insurance industries will be given the opportunity to apply for the State Farm Modeling and Analytics Graduate Network (MAGNet) program. Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work authorization (e.g. H-1B visa) for this opportunity. Please consult with Dr. Ting Zhang for further details. Successful applicants will be able to start their professional careers with tuition support for the degree and concurrent employment at State Farm at a facility located near the University of Georgia campus.

State Farm interns must be available to work for at least one year and no more than two years while enrolled as a graduate student. Internships may begin in Fall (August), Spring (January), or Summer (June). Although Summer is the preferred starting time, interns can begin in any of the three semesters.  To apply for such a position, please follow the link below: Intern MAGNet Program @ University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia | State Farm. To be assured consideration to the program, students must include on their resume the name of their graduate program and school (e.g. MS Statistics/Data Science/Applied Data Science at the University of Georgia) and their anticipated graduation date (semester and year) from their graduate program (e.g. Spring 2027). Applicants are screened out if they do not include statement of admission/enrollment in a graduate degree program at the University of Georgia, or if the specified graduation timeline does not align with MAGNet requirements.
