The Department of Statistics at the University of Georgia is partnering with Data Scientists at Wells Fargo to offer a Data Science & Artificial Intelligence Camp from July 17 - 21, 2023 (8am to 5pm). This will be held in-person at the University of Georgia Campus,Room 202 Caldwell Hall. About 15 high school students selected from across the Athens area will participate in this camp. This week-long hands-on learning program will be developed and taught by experienced faculty members from the Department of Statistics and Data Scientists from Wells Fargo with a passion for inspiring High School Students. The camp will be a fun and creative way to gain exposure to Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
 

The program will introduce the students to:

  • Data Science & Python programming
  • Introduction to Linear models, Random numbers, Distributions
  • Advanced modeling & tuning (Neural Networks, Machine Learning, tree-based model)
  • Generative Adversarial Networks – Image manipulation
  • Module for Metaverse
  • Project (Data Collection, model initialization, optimization, assessment)
  • Final Hands-on Project & Presentation (Computer Vision & Detection: Rock-Paper-Scissors).
  • Optional Capstone Project
