Abhyuday Mandal has been recognized for the second time for his superior teaching at UGA. He was one of the five finalists from the Franklin College for an Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award. He was recognized at a Faculty Recognition Banquet organized by the Provost's office on April 16, 2018.
Congratulations to Suchi Goyal Suchi Goyal received a special scholarship from the University of California, Los Angeles, Department of Statistics, where she was recently admitted into the doctoral program starting Fall 2018. She looks forward to pursuing her PhD in statistics and is particularly interested in the analysis of multidimensional data sets and identification of causational relationships. Dr. Pengsheng Ji Published a Discussion Paper on Statistician Coauthorship and Citation Networks in the Annals of Applied Statistics.This 2016 paper exposes interesting patterns, trends and communities in the field of statistics, using the new data set covering 3400 papers published in four of the top journals in statistics from 2003 to 2012. For the third year in a row, student groups from the Department of Statistics have earned high recognition at the SAS Analytics Shootout. This year, a team captained by Rich Ross and advised by Dr. Dan Hall has placed in the top three and is still in the running for first place. Theresa Devasia was nominated by the Statistics Department for the Presidential Award of Excellence. This award recognizes high-achieving students in each college and school. Shortly after her nomination, she received a letter informing her that she was selected as an awardee and invited to the Honor's Day Luncheon. Before lunch, she was able to meet President Morehead, and received a special cord to be worn at graduation. She is very happy…
