Prince Allotey

Lecturer

Dr. Prince Allotey is a Lecturer in the Department of Statistics at the University of Georgia (UGA). He earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Connecticut. Before joining UGA, he served as a Senior Instructor in the Department of Statistics at the University of South Carolina and as an Assistant Teaching Professor at the University of Washington, where he taught several statistics courses. 

Dr. Allotey is passionate about teaching and mentoring, with a particular focus on creating student-centered and inclusive classrooms that foster learning, build student confidence, and promote diversity in the mathematical sciences. He enjoys guiding students in applying statistical methods to real-world problems and developing the ability to critically evaluate statistical findings.

His research interests include spatial survival modeling, methods for handling missing data, and innovations in statistics and data science education. His applied work broadly involves the use of statistical methodologies to address problems in the social and life sciences.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Allotey is an active contributor to the statistical community. He currently chairs the American Statistical Association (ASA) Diversity Mentoring Program, serves as vice chair of the ASA Committee on Minorities in Statistics, and is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Statistics and Data Science Education. In his leisure time, he enjoys traveling and watching soccer.
